  A Conversation with my Father

In this heartfelt video, Judith Snow shares a touching story from her childhood that shaped her life and outlook. When about six, her father told her  that doctors in California were ending the lives of children with Down syndrome because they believed these children couldn’t have meaningful lives. He contrasted this with his own upbringing in Biddeford, England, where people with Down syndrome were simply part of the community, working alongside others in farming and daily life. Judith’s father explained that if she had been born in his time, she would likely have been strangled, as they couldn’t imagine how to keep her alive.   Judith ased her father wahy he was keeping  her alive.  He answered that perhaps she would find her own answer.

This conversation highlights themes of inclusion, hope, and the value of every life. It invites us to reflect on how society views people with disabilities and the importance of recognizing their potential. Judith’s story reminds us  that everyone deserves a chance to discover their own path.

This video focuses on disability rights, community inclusion, and inspiring personal stories.  It was created by the Royal Ontario Museum.
