Shafik Asante was a remarkable African American organizer in Philadelphia. His capacity to mobilize us – communities – and generate hope anywhere – and everywhere was remarkable. Shafik was part of the Summer Institute team for several years – in Montreal and Toronto. It was a privilege to be his friend.
